ABOUT
Haad Bakshi is a film director first—a storyteller dedicated to crafting cinematic experiences that captivate and inspire. Based in Toronto/Mississauga, he directs films, music videos, commercials, and documentaries with narrative depth and compelling visual artistry.
His passion for storytelling began early, fueled by a childhood immersed in Warner Bros. and Disney animation, along with Japanese anime. Influenced profoundly by directors Akira Kurosawa, David Fincher, and Denis Villeneuve, Haad's directorial style uniquely blends drama, thriller, and sci-fi elements into visually striking narratives.
After studying animation and visual arts, Haad began his career as a storyboard artist, mastering the ability to envision stories frame by frame. His pursuit of cinematic storytelling led him to Humber College’s Film and TV Production program, specializing in Direction and Cinematography.
Professionally, Haad joined the IATSE 667 Camera Union, contributing to acclaimed productions like The Handmaid’s Tale, Designated Survivor, and films such as Polar and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. This experience further sharpened his creative approach and professional craft.
Driven to champion diverse voices in filmmaking, Haad founded Incolour Films, a production company committed to amplifying filmmakers of colour and their stories. Today, his diverse portfolio includes music videos in the Punjabi and Canadian music scenes, compelling commercials, and thought-provoking short films.
Haad is also an Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, continually pushing creative boundaries while firmly maintaining his focus on directing.
